Leading into the 4th of July week was the grand opening week of the multi-billion dollar Encore Hotel and Casino located on Boston Harbor in Everett. This new adult playground boasts hundreds of guests rooms, a casino, 12 dining options, and three bars and lounges. Included in this run is the new place to be seen, Mémoire nightclub. Accommodating up to 650 guests, this 8,000 square foot marvel flaunts lustrous gold surfaces, plush accents, sensuous leather contours, custom marble tables, glistening hand-blown glass chandeliers, and more.
I had the chance to go check it out opening week for DJ Diesel (AKA Shaq) who shared the decks with other huge names such as Cheat Codes, Steve Aoki, and R3hab. Upon entering, I could immediate tell that this club is top notch and it is definitely the next place to be seen in the city. The interior is immaculate and sets off a Vegas-style vibe. Every table in the place was booked for the night with people were dressed up in name brand clothing and heels. The opener was playing some hip-hop mash ups and top 40. Everything is going smoothly for that type of crowd, then Shaq comes on.
Picture this… dubstep-raging 7 foot bull in a top-40 “it-scene” china shop. People standing there recording him, no one is dancing, and the hype man is working his ass off to get people going. The set was banger after banger for a dubstep enthusiast, just not the type of set the people who spent thousands on tables were looking for apparently.
Once Shaq realized that people weren’t that into it, he started mixing in some top 40 vocals with the heavy hitting drops, people continued to drink more, and the crowd loosened up. My friends and I by far has the most fun during this entire set as we were standing in the middle of Mémoire nightclub headbanging and knowing every single drop.
Now don’t take this as me leaving the club a bad review. The lights are good, but the best attributes by far are its MASSIVE video LED screen that flaunt amazing visuals, and that custom made Funktion One sound system (drool). The staff is very friendly, the drinks are a little pricey (but strong), and the club has a nice vibe to it. I would definitely go back for round 2!
