mondays

A very “new” edition of Meltdown Monday — a lot of the producers featured today, I personally have never heard before or featured. New blood!

1. Dathan – “Mirror Masa”

Love Dathan’s (San Fran) take on Cashmere Cat’s “Mirror Maru”. It’s a beautiful and heavy song to begin with but to slow it down and add this take on it makes it even bigger. The silence around the strings before the drop is fantastic.

2. Kid Ink Feat. Dej Loaf – “Be Real (Mike Gao Remix)

Not much to say here other that I thought this was hella dope. Just different. Bouncy. Chopped. But executed well. I’m really into it. Mike Gao is from LA.

3. Dougie F & DJ Fire – “Back Up On It (Jesse Slayter Remix)

This is Jesse Slayter’s second feature on here over the last couple weeks and I couldn’t be happier. I love this new melodic take he has going on right now. Just summer banger after sumer banger after summer banger.

4. Hudson Mohawke Feat. Irfane – “Very First Breath” (StéLouse Remix)

SteLouse (Denver) always delivers and this Hudson Mohawke remix is an awesome addition to the playlist this week. Keeping up with his usual style but not taking away from the original, per usual, is always nice to hear.

5. Clams Casino – “I’m God (Howl Edit)”

OK so let’s bring in one of my favorite hip-hop producers ever, and add in this hella vibey edit from Australian-based producer Howl and press it down into this perfect, little package. This is a solid track all around. Can’t wait to see what else this kid Howl is going to do.

6. Geek Boy – “Fool”

Geek Boy (YEW KAY) always delivers. Very aggressive production but this particular track has a really nice flow to it and you can definitely see the growth in his music from earlier tracks.

7. Dooqu – “Cup of Tea”

This just put a huge smile on my face. End of story. Dooquo is from Denmark.
